Diagnostic & Scientific Scopes

Focus of our diagnostic activities at the Center for Neuropathology and Prion Research is the evaluation of bioptic and autoptic tissue specimen from the central and peripheral nervous system.

Research activities at our Institute compromise on one hand basic research projects in the area of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, Frontotemporal Dementia as well as less common diseases like Multisystem atrophy. On the other hand clinical focused brain tumor projects are carried out in close collaboration with colleagues from the Department of Neurosurgery and Nuclear Medicine, and other medical specialities within the Klinikum München.
