Translational Neurooncology

Our research focuses on clinical and experimental neuropathology with a special focus on brain tumor patients. The major aim is the development of novel diagnostic tools, which help to classify tumors on the one hand, on the other hand we develop therapy monitoring algorithms for the prediction of clinical courses.
We apply bioinformatic algorithms on (epi)genetic, transcriptomic and proteomic data to understand biological and clinical behavior. Furthermore, we have long-term experience with diagnostic neuropathology and preclinical modelling of brain tumors.
The group is strongly connected with the Center for Neurooncology of the CCC Munich (NOKUM), the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) and the German Society for Neuropathology (DGNN). Moreover, the group has long-standing worldwide collaborators in the field of neurooncology.
